Two young men were arrested Thursday after police found guns, a pipe bomb and bomb-making materials at a LaGrange home.
Brandon Hart, 21, and a 15-year-old juvenile were arrested and charged with possession of a destructive device, manufacturing a destructive device, possession of explosive materials, possession of marijuana, possession of a dangerous drug, discharging a gun near a public street or highway and reckless conduct.
Around 6 p.m., police were called to a home on Polk Street in regards to a person shooting a gun toward the street. They found Hart and two juveniles in the backyard with a firearm.
The three were detained, and police began searching the barn behind the home. They found "numerous firearms in plain view," as well as a home-made pipe bomb. They also discovered materials typically used to make and set off that type of bomb.
Columbus bomb technicians had to be called in to defuse the explosive device.
Police also searched the home and found illegal drugs and more materials used to make bombs.
Hart was brought to the Troup County Jail. The juvenile was transported to Griffin RYDC.
