A downed tree on 12th Avenue in Columbus cut power to about 1,600 people along Wynnton and Macon roads, though half of the buildings now have their power restored, a Georgia Power official said.
Power was cut around 6:55 p.m. when a tree fell on a power line, said Robert Watkins, assistant to the region vice president.“It’s about the only thing down in this area,” Watkins said.
Those affected are along Wynnton and Macon roads between 10th Avenue and Wynnton Elementary School. About 800 people already have their power restored, and only around 100 people will be without electricity by 7:45 p.m., Watkins said.
Those unlucky enough to be in that group could be without power for another four hours.
