Columbus police say a man running through the parking lot of 1403 Warm Springs Road fired a dozen shots at a fleeing vehicle, but so far investigators have found no suspect and no wounded victim.
The car sped away, and the gunman dashed behind the shopping plaza that houses three businesses.
Police have cordoned off the scene with yellow tape. Yellow markers numbered 1-12 spot the pavement within the taped-off area, marking where officers found bullet casings.
Three businesses share the address: Ker's Seafood Market, the New Garden Chinese Restaurant and the Sunbeam Bakery Discount Store.
Witnesses and police described the gunman as black, in his late teens or early 20s, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 145 to 150 pounds and wearing all black clothing, with a black and white bandanna covering his face bandit-style from the nose down.
"It scared me to death," said one witness who was sitting in her car with her teenage grand daughter outside the Sunbeam Bakery store when she heard the blasts. "I just came to get one loaf of bread. That was an exciting loaf of bread."
Police said they are monitoring local hospitals in an effort to locate a shooting victim in this case. The investigation is on going.
