Fort Benning will hold a ceremony in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 14 at 11 a.m.
The commemorative service will be held in the Supper Club of the Fort Benning Conference Center. Retired Army Col. Roy G. Plummer will be the guest speaker. He will address this year's theme of "Remember! Celebrate! Act! A Day On, Not a Day Off!"
Plummer is the Muscogee County School District's Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps director of Army instruction. He is also the founder, chief executive officer and senior pastor of Faith Tabernacle Community Church in Columbus.
Plummer served as Fort Benning's chief of chaplains prior to his retirement from the Army.
Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
Light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the ceremony.
