The deadline to recycle last year's Christmas trees is Saturday.
There are five designated drop-off sites in Columbus: Cooper Creek Park, Britt David Park, Shirley Winston Park, Dinglewood Park and The Columbus Botanical Gardens. Saturday the trees will be chipped into mulch, which will be made available at no cost to area residents. Also free Red Maple and Red Oak tree seedlings will be given away only at Britt David Park between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
The Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission would like to encourage the public to recycle boxes, wrapping paper, and gift bags by putting the recyclable materials in a blue recycling bin or by taking them to the Columbus Consolidated Government Recycling Warehouse, #25 22nd Avenue (off Victory Drive near Dolly Madison directly behind the Summit Gas Station).
