Two days after a 12-year-old girl was abducted and sexually assaulted on her way to school, Columbus police are investigating another report of an unidentified man attempting to abduct a child, according to a Muscogee County School District press release.
Valerie Fuller, the school district's communications director, said the child, who attends Lonnie Jackson Academy, was walking to school when an unidentified man tried to entice her to enter his vehicle. She reportedly ran away from the man and reported the incident to police and school administrators. She was not injured and is safe, Fuller said.
A message was sent out to all parents and school district employees notifying them of the incident.
On Wednesday, an East Columbus Magnet Academy student was taken at gunpoint and sexually assaulted on her way to school.
