An elderly Columbus man was beaten and robbed in his home after two young men entered his apartment early Friday.
Police were called to a home within the Lindsey Vista complex on Decatur Court about 10 minutes after midnight in regards to a home invasion.
The victim, 74, told police he was sleeping in his bedroom a little after midnight when he was awakened by noises in the kitchen. When he went to see what it was, he was met at his bedroom door by two teenagers, one of whom then punched him in the mouth.
The two young men continued to punch the man in the face, demanding his money, until the victim pointed to his blue jeans hanging on a chair. The robbers got away with the jeans, which had about $900 and the victim’s car keys in its pockets.

The victim sustained a cut to his bottom lip, but refused medical attention. Police discovered the robbers had entered through the kitchen window, which was missing glass and had its screen pulled back.
Because it was so dark, the victim told police he was unable to provide descriptions of the intruders’ clothing or facial features.
