Columbus police report that someone tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl Monday afternoon — less than a week after a girl was abducted and sexual assaulted.
The girl was at Lee Street and Betjeman Drive around 4:15 p.m., reports state. Two others saw the attempted kidnapping.
The girl wasn’t hurt in the incident, police said.
The attempted kidnapping comes on the heels of a Friday morning attempted abduction near Goodson and Wright drives. An 11-year-old girl was walking to Lonnie Jackson Academy when a man in a dark green SUV told her to get into his car, police have said.
The girl kept walking away and told police and school officials about the incident.
Police are also continuing the search for a suspect in an alleged child abduction that occurred last week.
An East Columbus Magnet Academy student was taken at gunpoint and sexually assaulted Wednesday while she was walking to school, police said. No arrests have been made in that case.
Anyone with information about the incidents should call Crime Stoppers at 706-653-3188 or 911.
