A fatal shooting Monday outside of a West Point, Ga. convenience store led Tuesday to the arrest of a Lanett, Ala. man, authorities said.
LeMarcus Wright, 20, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Terry Leonardo Thomas, 18, of Lanett, police said. The pair were inside a car at the Sunlit convenience store, 101 W. Eighth St. as Wright was trying to unload a gun in the backseat. As he was unloading it, the gun discharged.
“It went through the seat and struck (Thomas) in the back,” said Troup County Coroner Jeff Cook.
