A Columbus man died in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday night, authorities said.
Tommie Lee Mitchenor, 81, was in the wreck at the intersection of Floyd and Hunter roads around 8:15 p.m., Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower said.
According to police, Mitchenor was stopped on Hunter and about to turn left onto Floyd while an 18-year-old was headed north on Floyd in the outside lane. Mitchenor disregarded the stop sign and turned his silver 2005 Cadillac DeVille onto Floyd, police said.
The 18-year-old’s blue 2000 Dodge Durango collided with Mitchenor’s vehicle, reports show.
Mitchenor received fatal injuries, reports state. The driver and passenger of the Durango had minor injuries, police said.
Thrower pronounced Mitchenor dead at 9:12 p.m.
