Columbus-based Aflac Inc. moved up to No. 130 from No. 152 on this year’s Fortune 500 list.
The annual list, released this week, ranks the 500 biggest U.S. corporations based on their annual revenue.
In 2009, Aflac raked in about $18.3 billion in revenues and $1.5 billion in profits. The supplemental insurance company was the only Columbus firm to appear on the list.
Thirteen other Georgia-based corporations landed a spot, including Home Depot at No. 29, Delta Air Lines at No. 84 and NCR at No. 451. In Alabama, Birmingham-based Regions Financial came in at No. 254.
Wal-Mart took the top spot this year with $408.2 billion in revenues and $14.3 billion in profits, followed by Exxon Mobil and Chevron at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
