Cabbage Patch Kids creator Xavier Roberts is inviting the 120 million Kids and their families to visit May 8 for the official grand opening of celebration and family reunion in the new BabyLand Genereal Hospital. The celebration begins at 9 a.m. at 300 N.O.K. Drive.
There will be free children's activities, entertainment, prize drawings, music and costumed characters.
Roberts will sign the original (with proof of purchase), hand-stitched Cabbage Patch Kids adopted at BabyLand General Hospital during the week of May 2-8. It has been almost seven years since he has made an appearance to sign the dolls.
The original BabyLand General Hospital opened in 1978. The new hospital is 70,000 square feet on 650 acres. Admission is free.
The new "Fathers' Waiting Room" is the historical archives that showcases some original dolls, valued at $15,000-$30,000. The "nurseries" are filled with cribs with hand-sculpted "Preemies" and "Lullabye Babies." There is also a Cabbage Patch with the "Magic Crystal Tree" with real crystals and geodes in the "ground." And it's the only place in the world to watch a "live" delivery of a Cabbage Patch Kid.
There's also a birthday party room for children and a ballroom for business meetings or even weddings.
