More than 20 soldiers from Warrior Transition units throughout the Army will be on Fort Benning preparing for the upcoming inaugural Warrior Games.
The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit will host these soldiers who are slated to compete in air rifle and pistol at the Warrior Games, an Olympic-style event scheduled for May at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. It is open to service members with bodily injuries as well as post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries.
Warrior Games is an effort to inspire recovery, capitalize on physical fitness and promote opportunities for growth and achievement among wounded troops, according to a Fort Benning press release.
Expert marksman from the USAMU will train and advise the wounded soldiers. This will be the second training camp the USAMU has hosted in conjunction with the games.
