April 20, also known as “National Pot Smoking Day,” is Tuesday.
So what’s it all about?
The number “420” has become synonymous with smoking marijuana, or “getting high.” According to urbandictionary.com, the term 420 has its origins at San Rafael High School in California in the early 1970s. A group of students developed the code “420” as a method of communicating when and where they would meet to smoke marijuana.
April 20 is also the anniversary of Adolph Hitler’s birthday and the Columbine High School shootings.
