When the seven "American Idol" contestants performed inspirational songs Tuesday, I almost gave up and sought motivation from my copy of "Chicken Soup for the Soul."
Then, Crystal Bowersox performed.
Bowersox took the stage last and played no instruments while singing The Impressions' "People Get Ready." The gospel tune was honest and genuinely inspiring.
During the song's final moments, Bowersox uncharacteristically started crying, a move she later said was a result of her father being in the audience.
Could those pesky "Crystal's going to quit 'Idol'" rumors have played a role, too? We'll never know.
Tuesday's show, which featured mentor Alicia Keys, solidified predictions of a Crystal Bowersox/Lee DeWyze finale. DeWyze was the night's second-best singer, offering a heartfelt rendition of "The Boxer" by Simon & Garfunkel.
Here's how I'd rank the rest of the pack, share your thoughts on our "Idol" blog:
1. Crystal Bowersox, "People Get Ready"
2. Lee DeWyze, "The Boxer"
3. Siobhan Magnus, "When You Believe"
4. Michael Lynche, "Hero"
5. Aaron Kelly, "I Believe I Can Fly"
6. Casey James, "Don't Stop"
7. Tim Urban, "Better Days"
