Columbus defensive back Ryan Babb was named the Southern Indoor Football League's Defensive Player of the Week after returning two interceptions for touchdowns in a 93-12 rout of the North Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.
Babb, a former Central-Phenix City and Troy player, also set the SIFL record for longest interception return with his 50-yard scoring run and for most combined interception yards (60) in a single game.
Lions kicker Trey Crum, the two-time Special Teams Player of the Week, was left out of the awards this time around despite going 12-for-12 on point-after attempts. The honor instead went to the Louisiana Swashbucklers' Raymond Harris, who returned two kicks for touchdowns and had 117 in return yards.
Albany Panthers quarterback Cecil Lester is back as Offensive Player of the Week after passing for 297 yards and nine touchdowns in the Panthers' 70-64 victory Saturday. His 404 yards of total offense was a new SIFL record, as was his nine touchdowns in a single game.
The Lions host the Lafayette Wildcatters at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
