Benny Parker, a former aide to a Georgia senator, announced his bid today for Columbus Council District 3.
Parker, 62, becomes the second candidate to seek the seat now held by attorney Julius Hunter. Bruce Huff, 53, said Monday he’ll seek the seat to focus on the infrastructure.
With his wife Linda Parker, a former Muscogee County School Board member, by his side, Parker said he has a vision for a safe city, to serve the residents of District 3 and create a committee on fiscal responsibility.
Parker has never served in public office but has worked on campaigns for other candidates for years. He worked in the insurance industry for 21 years and now works with New Horizons.
