"American Idol" hosts its "Idol Gives Back" charity special tonight, but the generous spirit has limits. One singer will be eliminated as usual.
The two-hour show airs 8 p.m. on Fox and will feature performances by stars like Elton John, Carrie Underwood, Mary J. Blige and more. Viewers will be able to make donations during and after the show.
In a recent conference call with reporters, "American Idol" executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz said this year's "Idol Gives Back" will be more low-key than what we've seen in years past. There will also be more of a focus on domestic charities. As usual, the show's charities will center on kids, poverty and health.
Tuesday, the top seven "Idol" contestants performed inspirational songs. Crystal Bowersox led the pack with her rendition of "People Get Ready."
Never miss a local story.
Who's going home tonight? I think Vote for the Worst pick Tim Urban will finally get the boot.
