Teflon Tim's armour finally cracked.
Tim Urban was eliminated on Wednesday's episode of "American Idol," an extended show that included the "Idol Gives Back" charity special.
Urban, who performed a mediocre rendition of the Goo Goo Dolls' "Better Days" this week, was perhaps the most divisive contestant during the top 12 stage of the competition.
He advanced to semifinals only after "Idol" hopeful Chris Golightly was disqualified. He struggled at the top 24 stage and many viewers discounted him on the first week.
Never miss a local story.
As the season progressed, some viewers thought Tim genuinely improved. Others vowed he was only surviving on teen heartthrob appeal.
Wednesday's episode -- originally scheduled as two hours -- ran a little more than 20 minutes overtime. It featured performances by Carrie Underwood, Elton John, Mary J. Blige and more. Things were so far behind schedule that Tim didn't get to sing a sendoff song.
Casey James and Aaron Kelly joined Tim Urban in the bottom three this week.
Next week, country singer Shania Twain will mentor the six remaining contestants as they perform her songs.
