A bill by State Sen. Ed Harbison, D-Columbus, that requires all witnesses before a grand jury to take an oath passed the House of Representatives.
Senate Bill 313 passed by a vote of 153-0 around 3 p.m. today.
Rep. Calvin Smyre, who discussed the bill in the well of the House, said afterward that the bill stemmed from the 2003 death of Kenneth Walker. According to Smyre, former Deputy David Glisson did not take an oath when he testified before a grand jury.
The grand jury did not indict Glisson on any charges.
The bill now proceeds to Gov. Sonny Perdue.
