LAGRANGE, Ga. — Troup County's Domestic Violence Task Force's "Ducks in the Fountain" is Friday.
The event, which is held to raise awareness about domestic violence and how it can impact children, will begin at noon in the LaGrange town square.
During April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the community has been urged to donate a dollar and sponsor a duck to be dropped into the fountain in Lafayette Square during the event.
Each duck will represent the cases of domestic violence that went unreported in the county last year.
Never miss a local story.
Children from local daycare centers will have the honor of dropping the ducks, and following the duck drop there will be storytelling. Participants are invited to bring lunch to the square and picnic during the event. McGruff, the crime dog, is also scheduled to attend.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Harmony House Domestic Violence Shelter.
