A Central High School teacher has been arrested and charged with sexual battery, according to Columbus police.
Corey Abercrombie, an English teacher at Central High in Phenix City, turned himself in to police on a warrant today at around 2 p.m.
The 35-year-old Abercrombie was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery. The charge typically means a person has intentionally made physical contact with the intimate parts of another person without consent.
The charge against Abercrombie stems from an incident that occurred in Columbus on April 29, but no details were given in the police report.

Phenix City superintendent Larry DiChiara said he did not know all the facts of the case, but typically when an employee is charged with a crime, that person is put on paid administrative leave until the district finds out more about the case or the case is resolved.
Abercrombie is scheduled to appear in Muscogee County Recorder's Court on Monday, May 10 at 9 a.m.
