The LaGrange First United Methodist Church Choir is planning a special performance Sunday to honor former choir member Ray Leverett.
The choir will perform John Rutter’s "Requiem" on May 16 at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary. A press release from the church stated the performance is dedicated in memory of Leverett.
The special piece will be performed under the leadership of Adult Choir director Deborah Ogle, who is also the LaGrange College director of choral activities.
A small chamber orchestra and organist Faythe Freese will also perform. Freese is currently an associate professor of music at the University Of Alabama School Of Music. He has a degree in organ performance and church music from Indiana University.
