Columbus police detectives will continue canvassing the area around Lakebottom park this weekend in an effort to find the person responsible for taping razor blades to the park's playground equipment.
Nine box-cutter type blades were found taped to the playground equipment at the north end of the park Tuesday morning. The blades were taped in places where children of all ages would grab, detectives said, like the slide.
Lt. Bruce Whitehead said investigators were able to pull some fingerprints off the razor blades but they were not usable. Whitehead said detectives will keep canvassing the area and checking with local businesses to see if they might have sold razor blades to someone recently.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Columbus police youth services division at 706-653-3449 or call Crimestoppers at 706-653-3188.
