Columbus State rallied from a three-run deficit early in the game to edge Erskine 8-7 in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Saturday.
Brian Satterfield came on in relief and shut down Erskine after it had scored six runs off starter Bo Foster.
Satterfield pitched 4 1-3 innings to earn the win. He gave up just one hit and one unearned run. Wade Dudley picked up his 12th save when he came on to strike out the last Erskine batter.
Eric Skinner went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Cougars at the plate. Alex Montes went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs.
With the win, CSU remains alive in the double-elimination tournament. The Cougars play Georgia College at 7 p.m. A win tonight could put CSU in Sunday’s championship game.
The winner of the regional goes to the Division world series in Cary, N.C., next weekend.
