A 16-year-old girl died early Sunday in a one-car wreck in LaGrange, Ga., police said.
Samantha Jones, a LaGrange Academy 11th grader, was driving a 2007 Nissan Maxima south along Country Club Road near Pinetree Drive in LaGrange just after midnight when she lost control, police said.
A preliminary investigation shows that Jones lost control of her car while taking a right curve and that she collided with a large pine tree in the 600 block of Country Club Road, reports state.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found Jones had died from her injuries, police report.
The LaGrange Academy website had a message from Headmaster Matt Walsh today, telling middle and upper school students to meet at 8:10 a.m. Monday in the Commons Building. The site states that the school’s counselor and grief counselors will be available to students Monday.
“Our school community is strong, and we will get through this together,” Walsh states online. “Please join me in praying for the Jones’ in this time of grief.”Police said that drivers in the area should expect possible delays or road closings during the wreck investigation.
