The Muscogee Lions, the county's junior varsity wheelchair football team, have been named state champions in the American Association of Adaptive Sports Program's state finals.
The Lions finished the season with a record of five wins and one loss. After winning the state semi-finals, they went on to win the state title in overtime.
The team was recognized at Monday night's Muscogee County School Board meeting for their win. Team members include Brett Allen, a senior at Hardaway, Katherine Barnes, a sophomore at Jordan, Alan Douglas, a junior at Kendrick, Victoria Duggar, a senior at Shaw, Mariellis Hiner, a senior at Hardaway, Travis Underwood, a seventh grader at Midland Middle and Kylie Lamee, a sixth grader at Blackmon Road Middle. Their coaches are Gloria Brown and Richard Reid.
