William Batchelor has been named dean of Auburn University's College of Agriculture.
He is currently head of the Department of Agriculture and Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University.
Batchelor will also assume directorship of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station at Auburn.
The move is pending approval in June from the Auburn University Board of Trustees.
Never miss a local story.
Batchelor, who begins July 15, earned his bachelor's and master's degree in agricultural engineering at the University of Georgia and his doctorate in agricultural engineering at the University of Florida.
"Dr. Batchelor's outstanding academic and administrative records will provide the College of Agriculture and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station with a nationally and internationally recognized scholar and leader," said Auburn Provost Mary Ellen Mazey.
