Mayor Jim Wetherington said Tuesday it would be a stretch to consider Office of Crime Prevention funds to help a start-up group to promote south Columbus.
Council eyed funds from his crime office to make a one-time contribution to of $100,000 to the Victory Coalition. The group would work to promote south Columbus.
The Budget Review Committee decided to delay funding of the group until the Office of Crime Prevention Board can review the request. It was one of a list of requests council decided not to fund now or rejected altogether in additions to the city’s $279.8 million budget for fiscal 2011.
Council will hold another budget session on Thursday.
