St. Francis Hospital is offering free health screenings Friday as part of National Stroke Awareness Month.
Stroke is America's No. 3 killer and a leading cause of long-term disability, according to the American Heart Association. Managing high blood pressure helps greatly in lessening the risk of a stroke.
Screenings will include pulse oximetry, carotid, blood pressure, stroke and body mass index.
The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in St. Francis' Woodruff Atrium, which is adjacent to the emergency room entrance. St. Francis is located at 2122 Manchester Expressway.
