Three Troup County students have been named Young Georgia Authors regional winners.
Each year writing talent is recognized in the Young Georgia Authors competition. Winners are named for each grade in each school, and are honored at the annual Young Georgia Authors' Tea. Grade level winners then go on to compete at the regional level.
The three Troup students to win at regionals are:
- Franklin Forest Elementary School third grader Olivia Smith, who won for her work "Saving the Magic."
- Long Cane Elementary School fifth grader, Emily Schoonover, who won for her work "The Dreamer." Schoonover is a two-time state level winner.
- LaGrange High School 11th grader Rachel DeGennaro, who won for her work "Promises."
