OK. You already know how to cook. All your family and friends think you can be the next Guy Fieri or Melissa d'Arabian.
Well, here's your chance.
On Aug. 9, between 10 a.m.-3 p.m., there will be an open casting call for "The Next Food Network Star" in the W Hotel Midtown, 188 14th St., in Atlanta. Fieri may be the most successful winner to come out of this reality show. d'Arabian won Season 5 and is currently hosting "Ten Dollar Dinners."
You can be a chef, line cook, home cook, caterer or just like most of us, a foodie. You have to have strong culinary skills and a personality that "pops." It also helps if you have a strong passion for cooking and have some food knowledge. And if you watch any of the shows on the Food Network, you know you've got to be energetic and enthusiastic.
Casting director Jennifer Sullivan says 100-200 people usually audition in Atlanta.
So far, four Georgians have made it to the finals -- Hans Rueffert, Season 1; Jamika Pessoa, Season 5 and Herb Mesa and Brianna Jenkins this season. Mesa is still in the running, as is Aria Kagan, who auditioned in Atlanta, but is from Hollywood, Fla.
What you need to take with you if you want to take part in the open casting call are two current photographs of yourself, a copy of your resume and a completed application.
It's going to be a long day, but if you really have a big dream of hosting your own television show, this is it.
