Specialty grocer The Fresh Market has set the date for opening its new store in Columbus.
The doors of the 22,500-square-foot supermarket at 1591 Bradley Park Drive will swing open 9 a.m. on Aug. 11. It will employ about 90 people.
A variety of activities are planned, the Greensboro, N.C.-based supermarket chain said. They include food samples, chef demonstrations and outdoor grilling. The first 1,000 customers will receive a reusable shopping bag and a sample bag of gourmet coffee.
One customer, through a drawing, will receive a collection of pantry goodies with The Fresh Market brand valued at $1,000. Items include spices, pastas and gourmet sauces.
This will be the 10th location for The Fresh Market in Georgia, which was founded in 1985 and has grown to 95 stores in 10 states in the Southeast, mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest.
The new store is located in Bradley Park Crossing, a shopping center near J.R. Allen Parkway and anchored by Target, PetSmart and Michael’s arts and crafts.
The recipe for The Fresh Market, according to the company, is offering a large selection of products, culinary expertise and strong customer service in an “atmosphere reminiscent of old-world European markets.”
The full-service grocer said it will offer 30 different baked breads, 14 types of pies, 200 varieties of cheeses, a 400-item produce section, a meat counter, fresh seafood and ready-to-serve entrees.
