Billy Bell and Jose Ruiz were eliminated on Thursday's episode of "So You Think You Can Dance." The double elimination was due to the fact that nobody was eliminated last week.
Lauren Froderman joined them in the bottom three, shocking many viewers. Lauren needed medical attention at the end of Wednesday's performance show. She was able to dance a solo after she made her first-ever trip to the bottom three Thursday.
Four dancers remain in the competition: Lauren Froderman, Kent Boyd, Robert Roldan and Adechike Torbert. Next week, viewers gain total power over the competition's outcome.
Here's a full recap of Thursday's show, which featured performances by Allison Iraheta, Christian TV and the "Step Up 3D" dancers:
Never miss a local story.
The show opens with a group routine to "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" by Sting. It focuses on this weird fantasy world that looks like an Adam Lambert concert. Allison Holker is the girl at the center of the routine. I'm guessing she took Lauren Froderman's spot.
No surprise, Mia Michaels choreographed that routine.
Lauren Froderman update: She's fine, fortunately. Remember, Lauren needed medical attention at the end of Wednesday's performance show. She completed her three dances on the episode.
Judge Nigel Lythgoe updates us on what the "SYTYCD" winner gets. In addition to the usual stuff, the winner will be part of a Gatorade ad campaign. Sweet.
Results time. Kent Boyd is safe. Jose Ruiz is in the bottom three.
Billy Bell is in the bottom three. Adechike Torbert is safe.
Robert Roldan is safe! Lauren Froderman is in the bottom three. OK, that was a shock. I bet she REALLY didn't want to dance tonight.
So this week's bottom three is Billy Bell, Jose Ruiz and Lauren Froderman. Huh?
We break for a performance by the "Step Up 3D" dancers. Then, Christian TV performs "When She Turns 18." What's up with this guy? I kept thinking his name was "Christianity."
The crew updates us on the plans for National Dance Day, which is Saturday.
Jose Ruiz solo: He performs the usual b-boy stuff to "Hot Music" by Soho. Sigh. I'm ready for Jose to go.
Billy Bill solo: He performs some weird twisty movements to "Szerencsétlen" by Venetian Snares. I'm impressed. Note: How long do you think it took me to confirm the spelling of that song's title?
Lauren Froderman solo: She dances to "Lets Get It On" by Marvin Gaye. I think she did this one in auditions, but it's still pretty good. She gave it her "A" game.
While the judges deliberate, Allison Iraheta performs "Don't Waste the Pretty" while accompanied by Orianthi. It's really good. I hope she picks up some steam commercially.
Judgment time: Nigel says the decision is unanimous and it's maybe the hardest one the judges ever had to make. It's the last time the judges make any decisions this season. Beginning next week, things are in the viewers' hands. Awesome!
Nigel tells Jose he's come a long way. He tells Billy his androgynous style might not be connecting with America. Haha.
He tells Lauren she's safe. Bam! The guys are out.
Jose Ruiz and Billy Bell are eliminated from "So You Think You Can Dance."
