Electronic payment processor TSYS has landed on a national list of the top 50 employers for hiring military veterans.
The Columbus-based company is No. 42 on the “Best for Vets: Employers 2010” rankings compiled by Military Times EDGE, a print publication and online site geared toward covering and assisting soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guard personnel with their lives and careers.
Companies were invited to participate in a survey about their efforts in employing former servicemen and women. The four categories included recruiting, training and mentoring, reserve policies and corporate culture.
The top five firms on the list are General Electric, USAA, BNSF Railway, Southern Co. and CSX.
Other notables are Boeing at No. 13, Sears Holdings Corp. at 15, Walmart at 18, General Motors at 23, DaVita Inc. at 34, UPS at 43 and Norfolk Southern Corp. at 50.
