The Governor's Office of Highway Safety will run Operation Zero Tolerance today through September 6.
The operation is designed to crack down on drunk drivers and driving under the influence.
Traffic enforcement officers will be conducting sobriety checks and DUI patrols during the campaign, called Over the Limit, Under Arrest.
In 2008, nearly 12,000 people died nationwide in highway crashes involving drivers with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher. Across the country drunk driving persists as one of America’s deadliest crimes.
