The American Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region has issued an urgent call for blood donors.
"This summer we have had a particularly difficult time recruiting enough blood donors to meet the requirements of our community's hospitals and the patients they serve," said Randy Edwards, CEO for the Southern Blood Services Region.
There are four blood drives on the schedule in Columbus.
There will be one Wednesday from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church, 6056 Morningside Drive.
Another will be August 30 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Columbus Tech, 928 45th Street.
On August 31, donors can go to Troy University, 506 Manchester Expressway, Suite B22 for a blood drive 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
The first day of September will see a blood drive at Columbus State University, 4225 University Avenue, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
