Wrecking crews will begin demolishing Carver High School tomorrow.
According to the school district's director of communications Valerie Fuller, the demolition contractor from Reaves Wrecking will begin knocking down walls of the high school's shop wing.
Demolition will begin around 9 a.m.
Demolishing the old high school on 8th Street is the first step toward a new Carver High School. The new school will be built on the same site as the old school. The entire project is expected to cost about $45 million will be paid for out of proceeds from the 2009 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
Carver High is holding classes in Baker Middle School. Baker Middle School students are taking classes along with Marshall Middle students in Marshall Middle School.
