Global credit-card processor TSYS has been recognized for its corporate responsibility and sustainable business efforts.
Newsweek magazine’s inaugural list of Top 500 Green companies in the U.S. is ranked by Boston-based KLD Research & Analytics Inc. TSYS was among the top 20 percent of firms in the Southeast.
Columbus-based TSYS said Tuesday it founded a committee called “TSYS Green” to come up with ways for the company and its employees to serve the planet and others better.
Aside from recycling programs, the firm’s staffers donated more than $1 million to United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley in 2009 and is a Partners in Education participant.
“Service to others is more than a philosophy, it’s our responsibility,” Phil Tomlinson, TSYS chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
