Veterans Memorial Middle School will feature Rachel's Challenge, a community event, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 26 in the Northside High School auditorium.
The event is aimed at preventing and reducing school violence, suicides and bullying and is named after Rachel Scott, the first person killed in the Columbine High school spree in Colorado in April 1999.
Rachel's Challenge is a school program started by her family. The program has reportedly prevented three planned school shootings.
The event is sponsored by a grant from the Sprint Foundation and Character Education Program. Parents are advised the presentation may not be suitable for small children. Graphic images and content will be used from the Columbine shooting.
Veterans Memorial Middle will also hold student assemblies on the program during the day.
