A Columbus man was beaten and robbed on the Riverwalk Thursday evening, according to police.
The 31-year-old man was walking on the Riverwalk near 5th Street at around 7:30 p.m. when he was approached by an unknown man, who told him to give him his stuff.
The man responded with confusion, police said, and was struck with an unknown object on the left side of his face. According to police, the man's wallet and ID, valued at $10, a silver bracelet, valued at $15 and a dog tag on a chain, valued at $10, were stolen.
The man suffered an open wound to his mouth and was taken to Doctor's Hospital for treatment. The suspect was described as a black man in his mid-20s, standing about five-feet-ten-inches tall and weighing about 180 lbs. He was wearing a black hood, black pants and a black top.
The case remains under investigation.
