Columbus Technical College has received a grant of $453,338 from the U.S. Department of Education.
The money comes from the DOE's Predominately Black Institutions Program.
The funds may be used for a wide range of projects including the development of tutoring, counseling and service programs that will improve academic success.
The grant money for Columbus has been earmarked for the implementation and maintenance of a writing lab scheduled to open in July. It will feature experienced tutors, 15 computer stations and shelves full of resource materials.
Never miss a local story.
Columbus was one of six Georgia technical colleges receiving money.
