Matthew Ratliff, the assistant pastry chef at the Everglades Country Club in Palm Beach, Fla., and a native of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, won "The Food Network Challenge" Sunday night.
Ratliff is the nephew of April Howell of Columbus.
This week's challenge was "Flying Machines," and the four sugar artists had to make a flying machine that actually "flew."
Ratliff installed a small motor in his futuristic spaceship and put it on a zip line. The spaceship flew and the judges gave him a $10,000 check. He also won $10,000 in April in another challenge. That time, he made a green alien that also had to move.
