Valentin Abe, an Auburn University alumnus named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, will speak at the school on Thursday.
Abe will speak at 7 p.m. CDT at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Abe studied in the school's Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures. His honor by Time was in recognition of his efforts to establish a fish-farming industry in Haiti. For 13 years, he has dedicated himself to building a viable fisheries and aquaculture industry that provides food and income for Haitians.
He was nominated for the Time honor by Bill Clinton.
Thursday night, Abe will discuss his work in Haiti.
