Columbus police say that the suspect in a Halloween homicide, arrested by officers late Monday, shot DaQuaun Cortez Character during an argument about money.
Fabian Henderson, 17, faces charges of murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Officers took Henderson into custody at 10:30 p.m. Monday at the Columbus Public Safety Center, and he was booked into the Muscogee County Jail early Tuesday.
Henderson is accused of approaching Character, 19, on Corbin Drive around 9:50 p.m. They started arguing about money belonging to Henderson that Character supposedly took. At some point, Henderson pulled a .25-calbier handgun and shot Character several times in the torso, reports state. Police said Character had money on him when he died, though it hasn’t been recovered.
Henderson appeared in Columbus Recorder’s Court Tuesday and was ordered held without bond, jail records state.
