A Columbus woman was arrested Wednesday on accusations she struck an 8-year-old girl with a belt, reports state.
Jacqueline D. Townsend, 53, is charged with first-degree cruelty to children, jail records state. According to police, she disciplined the girl by hitting her in the face with a belt.
The girl had a bruise to her left eye, reports state.
Officers arrested Townsend at 4:45 p.m. at the Columbus Public Safety Center, police said.
