Here's a full recap of the show.
Never miss a local story.
Cristina Yang tends to a patient who needs lung transplant and has a failing heart. His daughter is at the hospital. She hasn't seen him in about 20 years.
The patient situation turns out OK, but Cristina freaks out midway through the process. It leads to a Meredith-Cristina fight, and Cristina asks why Meredith is OK after the shooting. Then, she implies that she only got this messed up because of Meredith. She suggests the shooting wouldn't have affected her as much if she didn't step in to save Meredith and Derek.
Later, Cristina leaves the hospital while smiling. She tells Owen she quit.
Callie and Arizona prepare to move to Africa. Remember, Arizona won a grant to work in Africa and Callie decided to follow her there. But as the move approaches, Callie gets less excited -- especially when Chief Webber says he had big plans for her at Seattle Grace.
Callie chats with McSteamy about the move, and he compares her to girls who get breast implants only to impress their boyfriends. Callie's response? "I love her."
Finally, Callie and Arizona arrive at the airport. Callie delivers some passive-aggressive happy comments, and Arizona explodes. She says Callie's ruining the experience. She wants to go to Africa alone.
Callie warns that if Arizona gets on the plane alone, they're done. Arizona's response? They're screaming at each other in an airport. They're already done.
BABY GOT BACK
Lexie and McSteamy work on a female patient who wants butt implants. Lexie worries that the woman is only doing it to impress a guy, but the patient gives a cute little monologue about simply wanting jeans that fit well. Of course, it prompts McSteamy to admire Lexie's physical assets.
Bailey works with a pathologist to pinpoint why the patient played by Mandy Moore died. Remember, Moore's character survived the shooting, but months later encountered rare complications and never woke up after surgery. Unfortunately, the cause of death remains unclear at the episode's conclusion -- prompting another reflection about the limits of science.
Owen conducts a trauma training exercise in the rain. Most of the participants get frustrated, but April Kepner gets aggro and ultimately "wins" the challenge. It leads to admiration from Owen and a potential romantic match with Karev.
Jackson Avery doesn't fare as well. He drops out of the training early and gets a lecture from Owen. Jackson reminds Owen how much his life changed with the shooting. Nonetheless, Jackson tries the trauma exercise again and seems to succeed.
McDreamy tries to craft a grant proposal for an Alzheimer's trial, but can't stop thinking about the possibility that Meredith could have Alzheimer's. At the episode's end, he says he doesn't want Meredith to participate in the trial.
