Columbus mayoral candidate Zeph Baker announced this morning that former opponents Wayne Anthony and Paul Olson are endorsing him in his runoff against Teresa Tomlinson.
Neither Anthony nor Olson were at the announcement on the Government Center's plaza level this morning, but nine other prominent residents from an audience of about 30 people were there to back Baker, including Baker’s father, the Rev. Wayne Baker.
Among the others standing to show their support were Sam Rawls, Don Cook, Allen Woodall, Alton Russell, Chuck Davis and Hal Kirven, who ran for mayor as an independent in 1990.
Tomlinson and Baker were the top two candidates in Tuesday’s mayoral election. Tomlinson garnered 43 percent of the vote to Baker’s 26 percent. Anthony got 24 percent and Olson 6 percent.
The runoff will be Nov. 30.
