The Pastoral Institute held a grand opening ceremony to celebrate a $14.1 million makeover project. About half of money from the capital campaign went to new buildings, while the rest is going into an endowment for the institutes's programming.
The the entire project has taken two and a half years, and the 35,000 sq. ft. campus includes the Counseling Center, Turner Ministry, Resource Center, Pastoral Counselor Training program, Sarah T. Butler Children's Center, Center for Servant Leadership, and Right from the Start.
Special features of the campus include a a round chapel with a stained glass oculus in the ceiling where families can go for worship or relaxation during their visit.
The Counseling Center now includes a children's play therapy room used for psychological/ developmental evaluations and counseling for children and their families.
There are also six new conference rooms, adult and children's relaxation rooms and a garden area with a 12 ft. statue of three children climbing a mountain. That statue was dedicated to Bill Turner, who is a co-founder of the Pastoral Institute and a member of the board of trustees for 33 years.
