The city of Columbus is seeking a director to lead the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department to replace fired director Tony Adams, a city official said today.
Adams was dismissed by Columbus Council after he and two others were accused of misappropriating $200,000 in the operation of a city run elite basketball team. Officials said Adams was untruthful to his superiors when asked about a possible Nike contract in connection with the team he coached.
Tom Barron, director of the city's Human Resources Department, said the position was posted Monday on the city's website and other Internet sites. The position pays $69,770 to $106,163.
The city hopes to fill the position by Feb. 1, 2011. It will take six votes from Columbus Council to approve the new director.
